This image was revealed when Di & Peter Smith opened the cache in their Beechworth garden. Originally it was a photograph, but time and dampness underground have completely changed the view. I was impressed by the pattern that the various colours have made.
Firstly I experimented with red and blue paints on overlapping circles. I then stitched with red and blue threads...using the sewing machine. I had hoped that the overlapped section would appear purple....but NO!
A stitching sample on fine wool using variegated cotton thread and small stitches as opposed to the large slow stitches. The rows are close together and this has given a lovely sense of rhythm. The background fabric has been Eco dyed with Eucalypt leaves
