Textile Postcard Project Week #91

June 30th - July 6th 2019

Shiny blue and black butterfly
What a find in my 'scrap' drawer. I made this butterfly image/appliqué motif about 20 years ago during my 'butterfly' craze. I have machine stitched over 2 layers of fabric. The black stitching and sheer top layer have enhanced the design on the butterfly wings.

A Mysterious Image

  June 23rd - 29th 2019

This image was revealed when Di & Peter Smith opened the cache in their Beechworth garden. Originally it was a photograph, but time and dampness underground have completely changed the view. I was impressed by the pattern that the various colours have made.

Variegated wrapping paper

This is a tiny corner snippet of a delightful piece of wrapping paper that was given to me by a friend.

Textile Postcard Project Week # 88

June 9th -15th 2019

Overlapping circles

Firstly I experimented with red and blue paints on overlapping circles. I then stitched with red and blue threads...using the sewing machine.
I had hoped that the overlapped section would appear purple....but NO!

Not even slightly purple!!

Textile Postcard Project # 87

June 2nd -8th 2019

A stitching sample on fine wool using variegated cotton thread and small stitches as opposed to the large slow stitches. The rows are close together and this has given a lovely sense of rhythm. The background fabric has been Eco dyed with Eucalypt leaves
