Textile Postcard Project Week #18

Week #18
January 28th - February 3rd 2018

Week #18

This is the last postcard to be made from Off-cuts from my wool quilt 'Colour From Our Garden'. It was a challenging quilt to make but I really enjoyed the new concept. I had forgotten how much I enjoy 'Free Motion Embroidery'. I will include a detailed photo of the completed quilt.

Week # 17
January 21st - 27th 2018
Week #17- Felt Off-cuts

Some more 'off- cuts' of cream felt from my quilt
'Flowers From Our Garden'. Machine embroidery with variegated thread has enhanced these scraps which I was reluctant to toss into the bin. They make an attractive
postcard for this week's blog.

January 14th - 20th

Eco dyed and stitched cream wool

These pieces of cream eco dyed wool have been saved from the trimming process of my
quilt/wall-hanging  'Colour From Our Garden'. The orange print from the Argyle Apple Tree or Eucalyptus cineria is most attractive. I enjoyed machine stitching over it with a variegated thread.

'Colour From My Garden' Wool Quilt

Reverse side

This quilt is called 'Colour From My Garden'. It was juried into the Ozquilt AQA17 Exhibition, opened in Launceston, Tasmania in September 2017. The exhibition will be displayed, again, during February/April in the Yarra Ranges Regional Museum Victoria.  The hanging is made from Eco dyed cream wool. I used eucalypt leaves from the garden around our home and machine embroidered it with variegated rayon threads. My
postcards for the next 4 weeks will be made from 'off-cuts' from this quilt.
