Textile Postcard Project Week #73

February 24th - March 2nd

A row of leopards.

Leopards are also beautiful with their slinky movement and 'all over' spots . We saw one of these elegant creatures as he walked by our Safari truck to show himself off!
This fun design of leopards was also cut from the 'animal decorated' paper bag. I placed the row of leopards on a piece of spotted fabric which I purchased in South Africa.

Textile Postcard Project Week #72

February 17th -23rd 2019

This is the second image of the 'paper bag' series. Last week zebras were featured. This week I will post a pattern made from the images of the Kudu. There are many types of Antelope living in South Africa. We enjoyed them all, both large, small and tiny. All are graceful creatures. Some have curved antlers or 'cork screw' shaped antlers and some have straight antlers.

The Kudu are pictured here with the tiny wavy stripes across their back. They are medium in size and are soft brown /fawn in colour with pale cream stripes.
To our amazement we found 'kudu' meat on the menu one evening, at the Olive Tree Game Park. This did sadden me but we would have been offered 'farmed animals' I am sure.

I have used some small pieces of African printed fabric to enhance the placement of the paper images.

Textile Postcard Project Week # 71

February 9th - 16th

The stripes of zebras

While shopping in South Africa I was lucky enough to receive my goods in a tiny paper bag printed with very quaint images of three types of African animals.
We saw many many zebras often very close to the safari truck in which we were travelling. They are really delightful animals with clear stripes of cream and black/brown. We were told that the stripes are never the same from one zebra to another.
I cut the paper strip of zebra images and placed it on top of the red printed African fabric.

Textile Postcard Project Week #70

January 27th - February 2nd
'Good Evening' greeting

I could not resist this amazing photo of two elephants at Sunset. The image has been printed onto fabric and stitched with variegated rayon thread. We saw many elephants in the game park..even one very small chap who could walk under its mother. What a site to see. It was about 2 weeks old and already running as part of the mob in the bushland.
