Textile Postcard Project Week #86

May 26th - June 1st 2019

The backing for this sampler is two different hand dyed pink fabrics, joined. It rather looks like an horizon. Slow stitching is again the feature on the scrap of Eco dyed woollen blanket.

Variegated pink to dark blue thread

Textile Postcard Project Week #85

May 19th - 25th 2019

Another 'Slow Stitch' sampler.

A roughly cut woollen sample
A very simple pattern has been developed with
a variegated cotton thread on Eco dyed wool.
The wool was actually an old cream blanket which I dyed with eucalypt leaves and a few tiny specks of rust..hence the very dark corner!
Old woollen fabric is lovely to stitch on.
Note the dark/rusty smudges!

Textile Postcard Project Week #84

May 12th -18th 2019

Another 'Slow Stitch' Sampler
Variegated cotton thread has been used on a Turmeric dyed woollen background. The earthy colours of the the thread against the yellow wool are stitched to show a simple ridged pattern.

Great view of stitching

Slow Style Stitching

This week there has been a return to the Slow Stitch style of work. This piece of woollen fabric has been dyed with Turmeric which has produced a soft shade of yellow. It is quite a meditative style of working especially when using a soft wool fabric and variegated thread. The pattern seems to appear before your eyes as you are working.

A repetitive pattern made with colour.
