Textile Postcard Project Week #26

March 25th - 31st 2018

I have used some pieces of bright coloured ribbon again to feature on this week's postcard. The base fabric has been eco dyed with eucalypt leaves from our garden.

Textile Postcard Project Week #25

March 18th - 24th 2018

Week #25 'Ribbon 'Design 1'

The pieces of  ribbon on this postcard were in a long strip rather like a tape as it was quite stiff. I think my friend, Jan Preston, from Geelong, gave it to me. It has provided such a bright spot whenever I have admired it. I am pleased to have found a use for these bright squares!

The detail here shows the vibrant colours and simple design.

Textile Postcard Project Week #24

March 11th - 17th 2018

Brown commercial felt embroidered with running stitch ( or sashiko stitch or 'slow stitch' as it is sometimes called) The stitches have been whipped with a cotton thread I have dyed myself..variegated yellow/blue. The extra threads give a more distinctive line.

Week #24

Detailed view shows running stitched whipped with the same variegated thread as used in the base stitching.

Textile Postcard Project Week #23

Week #23
March 4th - 10th 2018

Commercial felt stitched in my favourite wavy lines. I have used these lines in many pieces of work with a variety of formats. They can represent sand dunes, mountain views and ocean waves to list a few of natures impressions.

Variegated threads give movement to an embroidery piece. This is a detailed photo of the whole postcard.
