Textile Postcard Project Week #77

March 24th - 30th 2019

Gold printed paper napkin

The City of Cape Town continues to be desperately low in water.Visitors and residents alike are requested to be frugal with its use. On this card I have used a biodegradable paper napkin which assists visitors to be 'water smart' in a small way. The napkin is thick, soft paper and very like fabric.

Textile Postcard Project Week #76

March 17th - 23rd 2019

This postcard brings memories of Cape Town in South Africa. We visited this lovely city  earlier in the year. We stayed at the Table Bay Hotel which gave us excellent accommodation. The postcard features a drink coaster from the hotel. The card is backed with some fabric I purchased at the Water Front Shopping Precinct. I imagine the images are of South African flowers.

The coaster features  seal and a silhouette of Table Mountain

Textile Postcard Project Week # 75

March 10th - 16th 2019

The gold 'B' was obvious on the train as representing 'Blue'

The South African Blue Train was great to travel on but difficult to find inspiration for a postcard. I have used a paper serviette from the table as well as the Blue insignia cut from a postcard. The train was decorated with an 'old world'  polished timber finish. The lounge and viewing area had comfortable chairs for sitting in rather that 'railway like seats'. The journey from Pretoria to Cape Town took two days and nights.

Textile Postcard Project Week #74

March 3rd -9th 2019

Image taken from Tony Forrest artwork.

Close view of grass stitching.

We did enjoy our Safari trips into the Pilansberg Nature Park. We marvelled at all the animals but one special delight was to see, quite near to our Safari Truck, a pride of 13 lions. I decided to use this image to remind me of the experience. I printed the image onto fabric and embroidered it by machine after I had placed it on the stiffened card.
The young cub is seen sitting low in the grass. I love his little face!!
